At the early stages of founding GoFreight, we invested a lot of extra time talking to freight forwarders to understand their challenges. So while ongoing feedback and perspective from forwarders will always be a critical part of GoFreight’s development, the early insight we gained from those conversations was integral to shaping the platform’s development.
Much of the feedback centered around two themes. Here are some highlights.
Of all the challenges forwarders face, a few stand out. Yet, many of the companies we spoke to said the technology they were using (if they had it at all) did not address their central pain points with practical solutions. These ‘missed opportunities’ include helping to solve or prevent problems that incur extra costs (e.g., unforeseen fines or invoicing issues) and better utilization of employee resources.
Here are some additional examples of forwarders’ most pressing challenges.
Forwarders also expressed frustration that the solutions available on the market did nothing to help them expand their sales and revenue in meaningful ways. The lesson for us was that forwarders need practical and straightforward solutions that fix their actual business priorities.
Many forwarders said their system has let them down due to new features and functionality being promised but never delivered. We even learned there are still forwarders waiting on “Tracking 2.0” from a well-known TMS vendor for about a decade now.
From poor and expensive onboarding and training to a poor user interface, forwarders who’ve invested in technology are expecting an ongoing partnership with their provider. It’s a commitment to choose a system, and many forwarders feel their freight management solution is not committed to long-term improvements that keep up with the needs of their business or where the industry is going.
How many of these challenges seem familiar to your experience as a freight forwarder? Given how badly technology for forwarders missed the mark, it is no wonder adoption across the industry was so low at the time.
With the insight we’ve gained from speaking to multiple freight forwarders, we understand which issues you may face more than anyone else. Our team is dedicated to working with freight forwarders, and we consistently update our software features to help companies function as smoothly as possible.
