What is an Air Waybill?

Air waybill, or AWB, is an important transport document issued either by a carrier or through its agent. It acts as a receipt of goods or a carriage contract between the shipper and carrier.

More about Air Waybill

Air waybill is a non-negotiable document (unable to be transferred and without immediate cash value) that acts as a receipt or carriage contract. The format of air waybill was designed by the International Air Transport Association and the information shown in the air waybill includes: names and addresses of the shipper and consignee, insurance details, transport details and instructions, and a serial number (composed of a three-digit airline code, a seven-digit air waybill code, and a one-digit check digit). This serial number is often used to track the shipments.
